Artist's Comments

Oil on Canvas, 60X80 cm.

Ok, so I'm not really happy about this picture. Besides the flaws I know it has, I'm tired of painting "pretty" girls. I've been analizing my "art" and what I want to do with it and this is not it. I want to do something that has some meaning to me, something a bit less ...shallow I think :/

I'm posting it anyway cause once is here I feel it's done and I can move on. Hopefully this will be the last of these kind of paintings I post for a long time.

Thanks for looking and for comments, I appreciate them all

Really, you painstakingly painted this amazing work of art, and you can't even come up with a title? Personally, if it were me, that would be all I'd be thinking about.

Really, though, terrific job. However, the purple and blue highlighted hair seems to be a little much, even if this picture is meant to be veiwed in an abstract fashion.

This never happened.

Well, it certainly is pretty, like you said. :giggle:

If you don't want me gushing over it, how about this: Whenever I get depressed about my art, music, writing, or any other creative concept I seek out the work of some artist I truly admire. Then, rather than attempting to emulate their work or style, I try to capture the emotion or theme of something of theirs.

That way, you create something wholly of your own effort, but you can still draw inspiration of someone you respect.

Well I'd be in trouble if the title was more important to me than the painting itself =P

That's one of the problems I'm having with my paintings at the moment. They have no title cause what you see it's all they are. There's no need to specify any concept or idea, so it'd be redundant to title it "Girl with leaves" os something like that. So I rather leave them untitled.

Thanks for the comment :)

Yeah, I do that but like always, I have trouble deciding what I want to say in a painting. What I believe in? My ideology? The things I know? Or I just go the easy way like I've been doing and paint pretty faces and avoid putting some thought in what I do. Dunno, it's very frustrating, but I'll figure something out. I NEED A PSYCHOLOGIST D:<

Thanks for the advice though, I'll keep it in mind, definitely

Thank you once again!

As much as you might feel tired of painting pretty girls, this is amazing work.

The texture you achieve is so soft that it looks like the finest of pastel drawings. How you do that with oils is beyond me (failed painters like to take photos, you see)

Love it.
